REALTOR® OF THE YEAR NOMINEES Commercial Alliance of Realtors® Reprinted from MiBizWest, Page 19 - January 9, 2006
Eric Trierweiler is a designated Realtor with and co-owner of Prime Development Co. Grand Rapids.
Trierweiler has been in the real estate business since 1989. He joined Prime Development in 1998 and ended up purchasing the company with partner Marcel Burgler in 2000 when the original owners went into semi-retirement.
“We wanted to keep Prime Development and its reputation going and move it ahead into the next millennium,” said Trierweiler.
A long-time member of the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors, Trierweiler was a charter member and director of the Commercial Alliance of Realtors. His involvement in CAR includes his role as board treasurer as well as director liaison for the CAR Technology/MLS committee. Trierweiler is a member of the MiCAR Data Task Force and a former member of the MLS Exchange board and the CAR/CIRRIX Strategic Plan Task Force.
“I am excited about serving on those committees. This year was an important year for CAR statewide. We wanted to develop common forms and we accomplished this. We signed a contract with MiCAR to use forms that CAR and its predecessor have been using for the last 10 years. Now those are being used statewide,” said Trierweiler. “We’ve also made an effort to get a common database statewide.”
Trierweiler appreciates the positive interaction between co-workers and competitors when working on CAR issues and the accomplishments that have come through collaboration.
Throughout the years Trierweiler has learned to roll with the flow of the industry.
“We go through cycles, and we have to be flexible. It’s just adapting and changing, and staying ahead of the pitfalls that are out there,” he said.
Trierweiler has had a long-standing role as coach for youth athletics, inspiring young athletes at the YMCA, AYSO, and Alliance FC. He is a multi-term board member and officer of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids. Trierweiler also supports a number of nonprofit organizations, including Lainie’s Angels, a family advocacy organization for children with cancer and blood disorders.
“I’ve been happy and delighted that I’ve had enough time to work with my children coaching and getting the chance to enjoy them growing up,” said Trierweiler. “At Prime Development we’re like-minded family people and we try to operate the business so that we can contribute to our families and our communities.”
